Calorie Counting? Not for Mandy Moore! Although it Hasn’t Always Been That Way
Mandy more is no longer that pig-tailed, pop-star from 1998, she has matured into one of Hollywood's leading actresses. Alhough, we do miss her effervescent chart topping hits.
Though she hit the music scene around the same time as fellow pop-tarts, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson, Moore always seemed different. While they bared it all to audiences, and gyrated on stage to suggestive lyrics, she has always relied on her melodic voice to distinguish her from her peers.
Her no-following the pact approach, has helped her navigate her feelings about Hollywood's demand for waif-like figures. Instead of falling prey to countless diet fads, she has opted not to deprive herself of her cravings. "I'm not obsessive about [dieting]," Moore reported to People back in 2010. "If I want to have a burger and fries like I did [the other] night in the park, then I'm going to do that because that's okay."
Of course the pressure to stay thin has gotten to her over the years, she's only human. "[There have been times] when it's the first thing on my mind all the time," she revealed, "I'm so affected and driven by that diet and what I'm eating and how much I'm exercising."
The turning point for the sweet-face actress was realizing that not denying herself her pleasures made her a happier human being. "I've just realized in time that if it's a constant thread in the background of my life," she said, "that's when I'm the happiest and that's when I feel the best about myself."
A few burgers, here and there, hasn't affected Moore's shapely figure. She turned heads at this year's CFDA fashion awards in a white draped Lela Rose gown, embellished with cap-sleeves, which she paired with Prada shoes, and an Edie Parker clutch. Her hair was sleeked back in a ponytail, and her pink pout, a bold contrast against the white ethereal gown.
