Caterina Scorsone Gives Birth To A Baby Girl!
"Private Practice" actress Caterina Scorsone, 30, welcomed baby girl Eliza, in Los Angeles, on June 6. It is her first child with musician husband, Rob Giles.
"Thanks so much for all the love everybody! It's overwhelming," Scorsone tweeted when news about her pregnancy hit the media circuit. "We couldn't be happier. So glad we finally get to share the news." Interestingly enough, Scorsone's character, Dr. Amelia Shepherd, found out she was pregnant on the show around the same time she announced her pregnancy.
The canadian actress opted for a home birth, facilitated by several midwives."We couldn't be more in love with her and are overflowing with gratitude for this beautiful miracle," she told People magazine.
Other celebrities who decided to forego the hospital to deliver their little ones include, Giselle Bundchen, Jennifer Connelly, Jessica Alba, Mayim Bialik, Cindy Crawford, and Ricki Lake.
Lake has been an avid promoter of natural birth, delivering both her children using the controversial process.
"I told her my goal was to have a positive experience and to remember everything - every contraction, every position, every feeling," she explained to MSNBC regarding a talk she had with her midwife.
Brad Imler, president of the American Pregnancy Association states, "One of the main appeals of home birth is the woman's comfort from being in her own surroundings.
According to ABC news, "Recent studies show that home births are up 20 percent. But even with this renewed interest, less than 1 percent of babies in the United States are born at home."
